San Leandro Public Safety Building
San Leandro, California

COLLABORATIVE DESIGN ARCHITECTS INC.

This projects involved code analysis, seismic retrofit, remodeling and expansion of the public Safety building for the City of San Leandro. The existing structure is a 20,000 square foot, three-story concrete waffle slab with severe structural flaws. Our work originally involved coordinating the seismic retrofit and minor interior changes.  Through a careful analysis of the alternatives CDA Inc. determined the moist efficient method of accomplishing this project.  As a result to cost saving measures on the seismic upgrade, CDA inc. was able to increase the scope of the remodeling work. We have expanded the jail, reworked the evidence storage, added women’s locker facilities and reconfigured internal operations.  This resulted in more streamlined operations and also addresses structural, life safety, handicapped accessibility and energy efficiency issues.  CDA Inc. also coordinated both the mechanical and electrical engineering consulates to update all of the building’s systems.
